Welcome KSC TKE Alumni Fraters to this website, Message Board and the LS TKE Alumni Association.
This Site, the Message Board and the subsequent Alumni Association was born from an idea and concept by Frater Michael Haller (Hal). Mike set up an initial Message Board back in 2005 (4?) that brought Fraters together from a significant span of years after many years of no contact. From that initial Board, Keith Malatesta (Fall 86) used his tech skills and resources...
to procure some web space and put up a Board with more functionality. That Board was in place for three years and was free to all Fraters that joined and wished to participate. Keith funded the Web hosting fees and supported the board for the three years... until news of the re-colonization of the TKE Chapter at KSC.
The Official Alumni Association was started in October of 2008 with the real motivator being the re-introduction of the TKE Chapter at KSC. The Lambda Sigma Chapter had been dis-affiliated with Keene State College for a couple of years. When word spread that a new Lambda Sigma Colony had been started by a couple of undergrads and was supported by the college and TKE National. The concept of an alumni association was born. You are witnessing this organization in action by coming to this site.
The original Message Board was moved from the hosting provider to a Linux based service provider and a licensed copy of Invision Power Board was purchased further enhancing the boards functionality in August of 08. After much customization with the help of Frater Bob Caron (Skokey) the Message Board is how you see it today.
In late September the AA filed with the State of Virginia, the documents to Formally and Legally establish the LSDC KSC TKE Alumni Association. Dave Sime (Yik Yak, Spring 86) and Josh Terrell (Tex, also Spring 86) did a tremendous amount of work writing and re-writing the documentation required to file and charter the organization. The initial concept was to establish the organization as a Non-Profit and we ran into some difficulty... the amount of time required to establish a Non-Profit is significant. So we established initially as a For Profit with the ability to file the paperwork to re-position the organization as Non-profit within 27 months.
The Message Board configuration is currently set up to allow All Fraters access. There is an Alumni Association Members area for official Association Business (The bottom section of the board). All paid members of the association have access to this business section. There is also a General Alumni area that all Fraters (Association Members and non Association Member alike) have access to. This will allow Fraters to maintain contact regardless of their preference to join the Association or not.
